First lesson of the year - Everything you need - Any subject

Excellent first lesson of the year, comprehensively covering slide-by-slide all that you need your new class to know in an accessible and fun way. Helps you to get to know your students, and helps them to get to know each-other too, setting them up for some great learning. Also gets you off to a brilliant start with your expectations through a whole-class ‘Partnership Agreement’ that they create and sign. I use this template every year with every class that I teach and it always works brilliantly. They have a lot of fun, as do you, and you also get all of the bits sorted that you need to without missing anything out (an overview of the year, books, seating plan etc.) which is easily done at the start of a busy term. Recommended especially for new teachers. Clear instructions on each slide and places for you to insert your own information. 15 slides in total: 1. Resources you need for the lesson. 2. Space to insert your seating plan. 3. Date, title, LO, starter slide. 4. Our Partnership Agreement slide. 5. Expectations / building on slide before. 6. Exercise book slide. 7. Getting to know each other - The two truths game. 8. As above - teacher’s answers. 9. My promise to you (what you will do as a teacher to help their learning). 10. Raffle tickets and how they work, if you decide to use to reinforce positive behaviour. 11. Our lessons - overview of the number of lessons each week, report and Parents’ Evening dates and topics. 12. Help me to understand your learning activity. 13. Examples of feedback from activity above. 14. As before. 15. Bingo game!

Plenary Triangle Templates

A set of seven plenary triangles to use with students to review learning. Offers a great insight into areas of confidence and understanding and next steps in their eyes. Can be used with post-its and stuck onto the board before students leave, noted into books or onto whiteboards (a question at a time works well), or orally as a think-pair-share to get feedback. Really helpful to inform planning, especially with challenging topics.

Letter home to Parents / Carers - French Penpal Scheme

A fully-prepared letter, ready to edit with your name, job title and e-mail address to send home to Parents / Carers regarding the implementation of a penpal scheme with a school abroad. The letter outlines the importance of safeguarding (i.e. that all communication should pass through school only), and asks Parents / Carers to sign and return a slip indicating that they are happy for their son or daughter to include a photograph of themselves in their letter to their penpal should they wish to. A huge time-saver! Easily adaptable for other languages, simply substitute 'French' for the language your students are learning.

Creative Cultural Lesson (Cooking) - Parent / Carer Consent Letter

(0)
A bundle of two letters, advising Parents / Carers that their son or daughter will be taking part in a cultural cooking lesson, and asking for consent and a voluntary contribution of £1.50 to cover materials. A great time saver! Easily adapted to suit the activity you have in mind. The letters are set up for French students to decorate and ice a 'Bûche de Noël' (Chocolate Yule Log) and German students a 'Lebkuchenmann' (Gingerbread Man). They were originally used at Christmas time alongside a cultural comparison regarding Christmas celebrations. A hugely popular activity that students never forget! Letters have also been adapted to make crêpes with French year 11 students and pizza with year 7 Italian students. Great fun and wonderful bringing the language to life in this way!
